This short bible verse doesn’t mean what some people think it does. The initial line of “I will lay me down in peace” actually refers to relaxation of the mind and resting securely upon God’s promises. “For thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety” means that we owe our safety to that one special person above and not to our own wisdom, or the courage of friends and family. While you might be alone in human form right now, you really are not alone at all because God is always with you. Although you might not have guards standing around and protecting you right now – God is. The bible quote above from Psalm 4:8 means to trust in God. Know that he’s always with you (even when you’re alone) and will always protect you!
